Sunny is a hands-on, one hundred percent, volunteer driven organization. We staff our tutoring and reading programs with consistent volunteers who are looking to make a difference. Your donation goes to supplying these programs whether through learning or reading materials. In addition, we host monthly events with the children, taking them out to an educational event (museum, campus visit, etc) and then out to eat after. We also take the children out to fun events; bowling, arcades, apple orchards, etc. We are able to run these events free of charge to the foster homes through your donations. 

These events are integral to the children's childhood experiences as being in foster care differentiates them from other children. It is not common to take the children out, but we are attempting to normalize giving them normal children experiences. It is also important because given the trauma the children have gone through, this can offer them a reprieve and a chance at a normal childhood experience they would not receive otherwise. 

A residential care facility can be viewed as a modern day foster home, a type of live-in, out-of-home care placement in which staff are trained to work with children and youth whose specific needs are best addressed in a highly structured environment.

Yes. We take pictures and videos of every event and item donated. If we do not post about a particular event it is because the children's faces are showing and we do not post their faces online for privacy and safety reasons. If you are inquiring about a particular event, you can reach out to us and we can provide you with photos and videos. 

We also take pictures and videos of each donated item and its delivery. During the holidays, we donate over ten thousand dollars worth of gifts to four foster homes and select foster families. We document everything and can send proof of delivery as well as post a few photos and videos on our social media. 

We are partnered with four homes in the metro-Detroit area.
